SpaceX launches 20 Starlink satellites on Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral

The Starlink 8-19 mission came at the end of the week kicked off by the launch of SpaceX’s Starship rocket, a Falcon Heavy rocket and two other Falcon 9 rockets. Liftoff happened at 7:31 p.m. EDT (2331 UTC) on Friday, Oct. 18.

The mission was the second Falcon 9 launch of the day for SpaceX. Liftoff occurred at 1:21 a.m. PDT (4:21 a.m. EDT, 0821 UTC) from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base.

SpaceX notches 100th launch of 2024 with Starlink mission on Falcon 9 rocket

The mission also broke SpaceX’s record number of orbital launches achieved in 2023. Liftoff happened at 2:10 a.m. EDT (0610 UTC) from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

ULA rolls its Vulcan rocket to the launch pad ahead of second test flight

The return of a Vulcan rocket to the pad at Space Launch Complex 41 comes as United Launch Alliance steps closer to being able to launch national security missions for the U.S. Space Force and the National Reconnaissance Office. Launch is set for Friday, Oct. 4, during a three-hour launch window that opens at 6 a.m. EDT (1000 UTC).

SpaceX grounds its Falcon rocket fleet after upper stage misfire

SpaceX’s Falcon rocket fleet was grounded for the third time in three months after a second stage problem occurred Saturday following the successful launch of a Dragon Capsule carrying two crew to the International Space Station. The suspension in flights comes as the company prepares to launch two solar system exploration missions in October with narrow launch windows.
