Gilmour Space touts permit for launch of Australia’s first orbital-class rocket

The Eris rocket was first vertically raised at the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in Australia on April 4, 2024. A specific launch date for Eris TestFlight 1 hasn’t been announced, but is anticipated between “early December or mid-January,” per Gilmour Space.

SpaceX’s Cargo Dragon spacecraft docked to the International Space Station to begin a one-month stay at the orbiting outpost. Dragon launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at 9:29 p.m. EST (0229 UTC) for the Commercial Resupply Services 31 (CRS-31) mission.

A Cargo Dragon spacecraft launched to begin its fifth journey to the International Space Station, carrying with it more than 6,000 pounds of science and supplies. Liftoff happened at 9:29 p.m. EST Monday (0229 UTC Tuesday).

As a milestone for NASA’s Human Landing System program, SpaceX is working towards an on-orbit propellant transfer demonstration campaign, beginning in spring 2025. The Artemis 3 Moon landing is targeting touchdown in Fall 2026.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral at 5:47 p.m. EDT (2147 UTC) on Saturday, Oct. 26, breaking the record for the most number of launches from Florida’s Space Coast in a calendar year.
