Live coverage: Kennedy Space Center to reopen Friday

A Boeing-built communications satellite lifted off at 7:21 p.m. EDT (2321 GMT) Monday on top of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The spacecraft will add to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress network linking airplanes, ships and other mobile terminals with broadband Internet and data services.

The Starlink 10-52 mission was SpaceX’s 130th Falcon 9 launch of the year. The rocket’s liftoff from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station happened Thursday, Oct. 16, at 5:27 a.m. EDT (0927 UTC).

SpaceX launched more than 2,500 of its satellites so far this year. It executed liftoff of its Falcon 9 rocket from pad 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday at 1:41 p.m. PDT (4:41 p.m. EDT / 2041 UTC).
