Dramatic views of Hurricane Matthew taken Monday from the space station

The International Space Station flew over Matthew on Monday, the dangerous Category 4 hurricane packing 140 mph winds.

Cameras outside the station captured dramatic views of the storm and its powerful eye while passing 250 miles overhead at 4:15 p.m. EDT (2015 GMT).

Matthew is forecast to impact western Haiti and eastern Cuba on Tuesday before heading for the Bahamas and potentially threatening the east coast of the United States later in the week.
