Soaring in fine fashion before daybreak, a United Launch Alliance Delta 4 rocket maneuvered a new spy satellite into a unique retrograde orbit Wednesday morning to join an expanding constellation of radar-imaging spacecraft.

The U.S. Air Force has been unable to send commands to the service’s newest weather satellite for nearly a month, and engineers are trying to determine if the spacecraft can be salvaged, officials said last week.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket with another flock of 60 Starlink internet satellites from Florida’s Space Coast at 11:31 a.m. EDT (1531 GMT) Saturday. The Falcon 9’s reusable first stage landed successfully on SpaceX’s drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
