OTD…Sept. 19 and Endeavour retirement

The flight of Gemini 4 launched today in 1965 for NASA’s first Extra Vehicular Activity spacewalk by Ed White on a four-day orbital mission with commander Jim McDivitt.

From deep inside the retired space shuttle Endeavour, technicians today extracted the crew module’s water retention tanks that now are destined for launch to the International Space Station.

#OTD in 1990…Columbia launched to retrieve NASA’s Long duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) on the longest Shuttle flight to date.
