SpaceX succeeded in its fourth attempt to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base. Liftoff happened at 3:48 p.m. PDT (6:48 p.m. EDT / 2248 UTC) on Friday, Oct. 23.

SES, the international communications satellite operator, plans to send two more C-band television broadcasting spacecraft into orbit from Cape Canaveral Friday night atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on a mission that will help clear spectrum for transition to 5G network services.

The U.S. Space Force says it will launch two GPS navigation satellites on reused Falcon 9 boosters next year through a restructured contract with SpaceX that saved taxpayers $52 million, the first time the military has agreed to fly operational national security payloads on previously-flown rockets.
