The H-2A rocket carrying the Himawari 8 weather satellite will fly east from the Tanegashima Space Center, shedding solid rocket boosters, its payload fairing and first stage before deploying the meteorological observatory into geostationary transfer orbit about 28 minutes after liftoff. This map of the rocket’s ground track over the Pacific Ocean was released by JAXA.
