Live coverage: Ariane 5 rocket deploys satellites for Australia, India

A Falcon 9 rocket took off for its fourth flight of the year Friday with a middle-of-the-night mission for SKY Perfect JSAT, a Tokyo-based satellite operator. The JCSAT 14 communications satellite launched from Cape Canaveral at 1:21 a.m. EDT (0521 GMT), and the rocket’s first stage booster made a successful landing at sea a few minutes later.

A launch readiness review Friday cleared an Ariane 5 rocket for liftoff Tuesday with two communications satellites for Arabsat and India, the first three missions from Europe’s spaceport in French Guiana scheduled in less than 40 days.

SpaceX resumed launches of upgraded second-generation Starlink internet satellites Wednesday from Cape Canaveral, nearly two months after some spacecraft in the first batch of larger, more capable “Starlink V2 Mini” satellites ran into problems soon after liftoff.
