STS-96

Discovery ferried supplies and equipment to the international space station on the first shuttle mission to dock with the orbiting outpost. Launch occurred at 6:49 a.m. on May 27, 1999. The crew was led by commander Kent Rominger, with pilot Rick Husband and mission specialists Ellen Ochoa, Tammy Jernigan, Dan Barry, Julie Payette and Valery Tokarev.
