STS-88

The first U.S. shuttle mission assemble the international space station began at 3:35 a.m. on December 4, 1998. Endeavour attached the American Unity connecting node to the Russian Zarya module already in orbit. The crew was led by commander Bob Cabana, with pilot Rick Sturckow and mission specialists Nancy Currie, Jerry Ross, Jim Newman and Sergei Krikalev.
