![]() ![]() Challenger returned to orbit with liftoff at 7:03 a.m. on October 5, 1984. The flight marked the first time two woman had flown together -- mission specialists Sally Ride and Kathryn Sullivan. The other crew members were commander Bob Crippen, pilot Jon McBride, mission specialist Dave Leestma, and payload specialists Paul Scully-Power and Marc Garneau. The Earth Radiation Budget Satellite was deployed. Leestma and Sullivan conducted a spacewalk to test refueling satellites in orbit. |
