![]() ![]() Qualification of the space shuttle system continued on this third flight of Columbia. Launch occurred at 11:00 a.m. on March 22, 1982 from pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Commander Jack Lousma and pilot Gordon Fullerton spent eight days in space conducting tests of the shuttle's robotic arm and collected measurements of the orbiter's response to thermal changes in various attitudes to the sun. |
