STS-2

The first reuse of a manned spacecraft is marked by this flight of space shuttle Columbia. Launch occurred at 10:10 a.m. on November 12, 1981 from pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Commander Joe Engle and pilot Dick Truly orbited the Earth for two days instead of the planned five due to a fuel cell failure. The mission completed 90 percent of test objectives including operation of the Canadian robotic arm.
