![]() ![]() This fourth and final test flight for the space shuttle began with launch of Columbia at 11:00 a.m. on June 27, 1982 from pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Commander Tom Mattingly and pilot Henry Hartsfield orbited the Earth for seven days running multiple tests on the shuttle as well as health experiments on themselves. A classified Department of Defense payload was also flown. |
