Discovery launched on the ninth and final Shuttle-Mir docking mission on June 2, 1998 at 6:06 p.m. Andy Thomas was returned to Earth aboard the shuttle after his stay on the Russian space station. Discovery's crew was commander Charlie Precourt, pilot Dom Gorie and mission specialists Wendy Lawrence, Franklin Chang-Diaz, Janet Kavandi and Valery Ryumin.
