Atlantis launched on the fifth Shuttle-Mir docking mission on January 12, 1997 at 4:27 a.m. Jerry Linenger was flown to the Russian space station to replace John Blaha, who returned to Earth aboard the shuttle. Atlantis' crew was commander Mike Baker, pilot Brent Jett and mission specialists John Grunsfeld, Marsha Ivins, Jeff Wisoff and Linenger.
