The first Hubble Space Telescope servicing mission was launched on Endeavour at 4:26 a.m. EST on December 2, 1993. The crew conducted an all-time record five spacewalks to fix the trouble with Hubble. The highly experienced crew was headed by commander Dick Covey, with pilot Ken Bowersox and mission specialists Story Musgrave, Kathryn Thornton, Claude Nicollier, Jeff Hoffman and Tom Akers.
