STS-61A

The first German Spacelab scientific research mission was flown aboard Challenger. Launch occurred at 12:00 p.m. on October 29, 1985. The crew was led by commander Henry Hartsfield, with pilot Steve Nagel, mission specialists Jim Buchli, Guion Bluford and Bonnie Dunbar and payload specialists Reinhard Furrer, Ernest Messerschmid and Wubbo Ockels. Spacelab D-1 featured 75 experiments.
