The Morelos A, Arabsat A and Telstar 3D commercial communications satellites were launched aboard Discovery's fifth flight. Liftoff came at 7:33 a.m. on June 17, 1985. The crew was led by commander Dan Brandenstein, with pilot John Creighton, mission specialists Shannon Lucid, Steve Nagel and John Fabian and payload specialists Patrick Baudry and Sultan Salman Al-Saud. The Spartan 1 craft was also deployed and retrieved.
