Juno's three solar array wings were deployed and illuminated with simulated sunlight over the last two weeks to make sure the power generators are ready to fly to Jupiter. Juno will push the boundary of solar power technology and become the furthest spacecraft from the sun to ever rely on sunlight for electricity.

These images show the deployment and illumination of Solar Array Panel No. 1, which features a magnetometer boom on the end for one of Juno's science objectives.

Liftoff is scheduled for Aug. 5, and Juno will reach Jupiter five years later.
