Solid rocket booster issue examined on Discovery
An internal valve problem with the hydraulic steering system on the left-hand solid rocket booster of space shuttle Discovery is being analyzed in the Vehicle Assembly Building. Rollout to pad 39A has been rescheduled for Monday to Tuesday.

Endeavour and astronauts are home safe and sound
Shuttle Endeavour and crew have safely returned from their thrilling spaceflight that mixed delicate robotics with the muscle of spacewalkers to continue constructing and maintaining the International Space Station. Touchdown on Kennedy Space Center's runway came at 10:48 a.m. EDT Friday.

Astronauts prep Endeavour for Friday's landing
The Endeavour astronauts tested the shuttle's re-entry systems Thursday before packing up for Friday's planned landing to close out the 16-day space station assembly mission. Station gets new cargo ship; shuttle heat shield checked
Space station commander Gennady Padalka aborted the automated approach of an unmanned Russian Progress supply ship Wednesday after a problem of some sort left it in the wrong orientation, taking over manual control and remotely guiding the craft to a picture-perfect docking. The shuttle astronauts, meanwhile, performed now-standard heat shield inspections to look for space debris damage.

Six small satellites were launched Wednesday aboard a Dnepr rocket, delivering spacecraft into orbit for organizations in four countries. The booster shot out of the underground silo in Kazakhstan at 1846 GMT.

Endeavour crew completes fifth and final spacewalk
Astronauts Chris Cassidy and Tom Marshburn went outside the International Space Station for a five-hour spacewalk Monday to install two Japanese television cameras on the new Exposed Facility, re-wire the power to two of the station's stabilizing gyroscopes, fix insulation on a Canadian robot and accomplish other minor get-ahead tasks. It was the last in a series of five EVAs for shuttle Endeavour's mission.

Station's carbon dioxide scrubber back on line
Worried the shuttle Endeavour might have to undock early because of a carbon dioxide removal problem aboard the International Space Station, engineers at the Johnson Space Center in Houston came up with a manual control work-around that successfully restored the CO2 removal system to near-normal operation.

No obvious problems found with next shuttle tank foam

NASA's new leader optimistic about reviews

Astronauts install station's new external science deck
The Japanese Exposed Facility was attached to the Kibo laboratory module Saturday, giving the International Space Station a new outdoor platform to perform science research. Final installation of the deck came after the day's 5.5-hour spacewalk by astronauts Dave Wolf and Tim Kopra.

Heat shield inspection finds no major issues on shuttle
NASA's Debris Analysis Team is in the final stages of reviewing launch and on-orbit photography of the shuttle Endeavour's heat shield. The ship's nose cap and wing leading edge panels have been cleared for entry as is and while 16 areas have been identified with minor tile damage, engineers have not seen anything that warrants repairs or additional inspections, a senior manager said Saturday.

Shuttle Endeavour docks with the space station
Endeavour has arrived at the International Space Station for its construction mission that will install an external science deck to complete Japan's Kibo facilities, pre-stage critical spare parts for the outpost and replace aging batteries in the power grid. Friday's docking occurred a few minutes early at 1:47 p.m. EDT (1747 GMT).

Space shuttle Endeavour finally launches on sixth try
Endeavour finally roared to life and blasted off Wednesday on its sixth try, rocketing away through a hazy sky toward a Friday rendezvous with the space station. Multiple pieces of foam insulation appeared to fall from the ship's external tank during the early moments of flight, but it was not immediately clear whether the shuttle's fragile heat shield suffered any significant damage.
