PHOTOS: Discovery leaves VAB, prepped for lift

Leaving the Vehicle Assembly Building for the last time, the shuttle Discovery is towed to the runway at the Kennedy Space Center early Saturday, beginning the first leg of a ferry flight to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington.

The shuttle made the move before sunrise Saturday, but high winds halted plans to lift the orbiter on top of a modified Boeing 747 carrier jet until at least Sunday.
