The ASTRO 2 collection of telescopes was ferried into space aboard Endeavour's payload bay. Launch occurred on March 2, 1995, at 1:38 a.m. The crew was made up of commander Steve Oswald, pilot Bill Gregory, mission specialists Tammy Jernigan, John Grunsfeld and Wendy Lawrence and payload specialists Ron Parise and Sam Durrance.
