NASA's Gamma Ray Observatory was launched to the study the most explosive forces in the Universe aboard Atlantis at 9:22 a.m. on April 5, 1991. The flight was commanded by Steve Nagel, with pilot was Ken Cameron and mission specialists Jerry Ross, Jay Apt and Linda Godwin.
