A PSLV-XL rocket from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the Proba-3 spacecraft on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA). The pair of spacecraft separated from the upper stage about 18 minutes after liftoff. The pair will line up with the Sun about 150 m (492 ft) apart to mimic a solar eclipse. This will be ESA’s first payload on a rocket from ISRO since the Proba-1 mission, which launched in 2001. Delayed from Dec. 4.
