PHOTOS: Delta 4 rocket pierces starry sky

A Delta 4 rocket soared into space Thursday evening at 7:38 p.m. EST, successfully deploying the U.S. Air Force's fourth Wideband Global SATCOM communications satellite less than 41 minutes later.

These photos were captured from the Kennedy Space Center press site about six miles northwest of the launch pad.
