 Forecast for Monday, May 12

Issued: Friday, May 9
Launch Weather Officer: Jim Sardonia, 45th Weather Squadron

Synoptic Discussion: "A strong high-pressure ridge over Florida will continue to bring very warm temperatures locally with High's in the upper 80's through the weekend. An easterly sea breeze will set up each day (after 1100 a.m.) with little to no chance of rain along the east coast of Florida.

"Generally favorable weather is expected on Launch Day, however there will be a chance of isolated rainshowers inland along the remnants of an old front and enhanced Cumulus Clouds are expected to develop along the east-coast sea breeze in the afternoon hours. Some of these Cumulus Clouds may be within 10 nautical miles of SLC 41 and violate the Cumulus Cloud Rule early in the countdown.

"In the event of a 24 hr delay, there will also be a chance of anvil clouds within 10 nautical miles from isolated thunderstorms in Central Florida.

"The main concern for Launch Day is the chance of enhanced Cumulus clouds within 10 nautical miles of SLC 41."

Clouds: Scattered Cumulus at 4,000 feet with 3/8ths sky coverage and tops at 8,000 feet; Scattered Cirrus at 24,000 feet with 4/8ths sky coverage and tops at 26,000 feet

Relative Humidity: 75 percent
