Hispasat has decided to reinforce its privileged 30 degree West orbital position, with the launching of a new satellite: Hispasat 1C.

The third satellite of the Hispasat System will have 24 high power transponders, which will increase the capacity and flexibility of the Spanish Satellite Communications System.

The Hispasat 1C satellite has been designed to distribute and broadcast a wide offer of Digital TV Channels on both sides of the Atlantic. Hispasat 1C also offers full connectivity between America and Europe to implement the most advanced Satellite Communications Services.

With this new satellite Hispasat consolidates its position as the first European Satellite Operator that provides capacity over America.

The Hispasat 1C satellite was built by Alcatel Space, Cannes, France for Hispasat S.A. Madrid, Spain. Hispasat 1C is a high-powered Spacebus 3000B three-axis, body stabilized bus, with a payload optimized to meet the transmission demands of today's direct-broadcast markets.

Hispasat 1C is designed for an operational life of 15 years and will be positioned at 30 degrees West longitude. The power and range of this satellite will allow subscribers in Europe and the United States access to digital television and advanced telecommunications services.
