An Ariane 5 rocket launched with a European-built cargo freighter Friday, hauling fresh food, spare parts, propellant, water and breathing air for the six-person crew on the International Space Station.

Liftoff was at 0434 GMT (12:34 a.m. EDT).

These photos were taken with remote cameras mounted near the Ariane 5 launch pad, including near the base of the rocket and the top of the facility's water tower.
