Plunging back to Earth after a 15-day mission to the International Space Station, the shuttle Discovery glided to a picture-perfect landing at the Kennedy Space Center Tuesday morning. Touchdown on Runway 33 occurred at 9:08 a.m. EDT after several weather delays.

These photos were taken from the roof of the 525-foot-tall Vehicle Assembly Building, where shuttle orbiters are attached to the external tank and solid rocket boosters before launch.
