ISS Ground Stations and Capabilities COMPILED BY WILLIAM HARWOOD Posted: November 20, 2000 U.S. and Russian flight controllers can communicate with the international space station through ground sites and NASA's Tracking and Data Relay System satellites. Below is a list of active U.S. and Russian ground sites and the capabilities of each. The locations of each ground station can be used by satellite tracking programs to show when the space station will be in range of a specific site.
