A Boeing employee working at Space Launch Complex 37 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station was killed Monday evening. The cause of death appears to be accidental.

Bill Brooks, 47, a 10-year Boeing employee, was performing monthly maintenance on the mobile service tower's crane when the accident happened. No other details were released.

The accident took place at approximately 6 p.m. and Brooks was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Boeing said it has launched an investigation into the accident. The government's Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also investigating.

Complex 37 is currently under construction and will become the launch pad for Boeing's new Delta 4 rocket family.

It is the second death at the site in three months. On July 8 a subcontractor worker was killed when he disassembled a pipe coupling that was still under high pressure. The pipe fatally struck the man.
