Launch weather forecast
Posted: October 9, 2007

 Forecast for Wednesday, October 10

Issued: Tuesday, October 9
Launch Weather Officer: 45th Weather Squadron

Synoptic Discussion: "For MLP roll today, high pressure remains in place with a reduced pressure gradient. Winds should be gusting in the upper teens with a small threat of isolated coastal showers.

"On launch day, high pressure remains in place with an encroaching frontal boundary in the North Florida. Surface winds are East southeasterly gusting in the upper teens. Steering level winds are Northwesterly that will act to transport any late developing showers over the interior back toward the East coast. However, relatively dry air persists with a small threat of Isolated showers.

"The primary concerns for launch day are cumulus clouds and disturbed weather associated with an isolated shower.

"In the event of a 24 hour delay, the cold front will be over the Central peninsula during the count that will result in a slight increase in cloud cover and isolated showers. The primary concerns for a 24 hour delay are disturbed weather, thick cloud, and cumulus clouds."
