Issued: Friday, January 13
Launch Weather Officer: 45th Weather Squadron
Synoptic Discussion: "A cold front will pass through the central peninsula tonight and into Saturday morning. There is a chance of isolated embedded thunderstorms associated with the front. Expect gusty winds associated with the front from the Northwest at 20 knots gusting to 35 knots and persisting through Saturday. Winds will begin to diminish on Sunday from the Northwest at 15 to 20 knots with a gradual decrease into the evening hours.
"For the (mobile launch platform) roll on Monday, the area will be under the influence of high pressure with winds shifting from the Northwest Sunday evening and becoming Southeasterly by late Monday morning at 10 knots gusting to 15 knots.
"For launch day, a cold front will be located in the panhandle with an increasing pressure gradient and strengthening winds from the South. The primary concerns for launch day are isolated coastal showers and associated thick clouds.
"In the event of a 24 hour delay, the cold front will be located in the big bend area with a strong pressure gradient and gusty winds from the Southwest at 25 knots gusting to 35 knots. There is a small chance of isolated thunderstorms associated with the front. The primary concerns for a 24 hour delay are isolated embedded thunderstorms, thick clouds, cumulus clouds, and gusty winds."
