Cygnus arrives at space station

The first privately-developed Cygnus spacecraft arrived at the International Space Station on Sept. 29 on a demonstration flight under NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program.

The Orbital Sciences Corp. spacecraft delivered about 1,300 pounds of food, supplies and experiments to the complex, but the mission's primary objective is testing the freighter's ability to routinely service the space station.

Space station astronauts Karen Nyberg, Luca Parmitano and Michael Hopkins tweeted these photos of the rendezvous of Cygnus and its attachment to the outpost's Harmony module.
