Rewatch the Ariane 5’s spectacular sunset liftoff

Watch multi-angle video replays of Tuesday’s blastoff of an Ariane 5 rocket from the jungles of South America carrying two communications satellite for Arabsat and the Indian Space Research Organization.

The liftoff occurred at 2134  GMT (4:34 p.m. EST; 6:34 p.m. local time), just after sunset at the French Guiana space center, on the Ariane 5’s sixth and final flight of the year.

The first video clip from Tuesday’s launch broadcast was posted on YouTube by the European Space Agency, and the second video is from CNES, the French space agency, which runs the Guiana Space Center and its range. A final clip is from YouTube user IMAZONE.
